This premium-grade ink from Shinseido uses rapeseed oil soot, considered among the finest of all oil soots. Carefully selected soot is kneaded with animal glue, shaped in wooden molds, dried in ash for two to three months, and then aged naturally for one to three years.

- Color: A lustrous, deep black that emerges when ground — lending an air of refinement to calligraphy and painting
